GUEST SPEAKER - MONICA MORUNGA FROM FEED IT FORWARD INC
Monica is a wonderful woman who is doing great things in our community. She told us that this was her first presentation to a group like Rotary, and she did a fantastic job! Baldivis Rotarians were impressed by the results Monica and her supporters have achieved in a relatively short period. Thank you Monica for a great presentation and thank you to Stacey, Monica's daughter, who was her 'tech support' for the evening!
Rather than try to summarise what she said to us the information has been copied from the Facebook page, which is far more comprehensive than notes taken by the editor!
FEED IT FORWARD INC
Feed it Forward Incorporated is a registered charitable organisation with DGR status, registered as a Public Benevolent Institution with the Australian Not-For Profit and Charities Commission.
THEIR STORY
A few years ago our amazing group called Nans on a Mission, met, and still meet regularly with our mokopuna/grandchildren, to stay connected with our culture, maintain our whanaungatanga/kinship, manaakitanga/hospitality and aroha/love for each other. Through our volunteer work with Red Cross we connected and currently work with an organisation called Secondbite, which collects edible food waste Australia wide to help those in need.
From small beginnings, we started collecting from a supermarket in Baldivis more than 3 years ago and recently this has increased to over 90 locations across WA from as far north as Joondalup, as far south as Albany and as far east as Mundaring. With the help of more than 250 active volunteers, we are collecting food from supermarkets more than 250 times per week and distributing to the homeless, the elderly, daycares, families in need, schools, breakfast clubs, soup kitchens, churches, refuges, and lots of other community groups.
THEIR MISSION
Knowing the need for food is very real within our local communities here in WA, FIF does its utmost to help save any edible waste from landfills to help feed those in need.
We encourage any food outlets, groups, or individuals with surplus food or edible food waste, to contribute to us and our vast network of volunteers, to offer to anyone in need without cost.

ARE YOU UP FOR SERVICE ON A CLUB COMMITTEE?
As we reach the end of a Rotary year, our thoughts turn to 'what's next?'. Within our club we have a number of different ways to serve and most of these involve commitment to one or more committees.
At our meeting on Monday Alan Steel, incoming Membership Chair, put out a request for members to come forward and be part of the Membership Committee. Every member is responsible for growing and maintaining membership and this is a great opportunity for personal growth and to hone your skills.
NOTE: Members are not restricted to one committee, so step up and find out what you can do to support our club, and Rotary International!

FOUNDATION
Chair Alan Steel gave us a quiz, with a prize of a jar of Promite on offer. Unfortunately the highest score was 2 out of 5, so the jar went home with Karen and Alan. How well do you think you would have gone? Try these questions and email the answers to Kay.
What was Paul Harris’s main occupation?
What will the seven areas of Focus be for Rotary Foundation from 1 July 2021?
Who introduced the phrase "He profits most who serves his fellows best" to Rotary?
Mind the Walk
Chair Davina brought us 'up to speed' with the progress for the Walk in October. We have an artist designing the posters on our behalf, the Facebook page is being arranged and Insurance is also being worked on. Davina is preparing a questionnaire for groups supporting mental health in our area. The idea is to decide which of these would qualify for the funds raised on the walk.
THOUGHT FOR THE FORTNIGHT
Our Health and Wellness Chair, Davina, was back on deck tonight and gave us the following quote.
